Stay at Home Residency
Broooklyn, NY, 2019
After not getting into any artist residencies for the summer 2019, I decided to create my own! The Stay at Home Residency is a way to block out a week to make art not connected to anything that one has to do to make a living. 2019, saw over a dozen residents take part in 3 events, an opening brunch where we talked about art we wanted to make over the week, a trip to the Met to see the period rooms, and a final party where people presented work they created over the week. For this iteration of Stay at Home we saw paintings, video pieces, drag performances, a documentary play about the moon landing, performance art, handbook writing, and correspondence artwork all performed and presented on a hand made stage in Brooklyn.
